Hey Jason, thanks for the opportunity to get a free ticket to the event.

I deserve to go to this event and represent my company, Future Delivery, because of the sacrifices all the team members have had to make. Our sacrifices truly show that we’re not entrepreneurs because of some false hope to become the next Facebook or to get rich quick. It show that we have the heart and passion to forgo everything in order to will our company to success.

Yu-kai has sacrificed a safe corporate job. He is international, so he is dependent on a Visa to keep him in the states. He therefore needs to take additional classes (even though he has already graduated from UCLA) in order to stay in the states. He has constant pressure from his family to take a comfortable job.

I left my corporate job to do FD full time. I have been livin off of my savings for 12 months now, and have decided to do consulting work for companies here in the LA area instead of taking a 9-5. The biggest sacrifices I feel that I have made are money and time away from the people I love. It’s hard, but I feel it is necessary to have a chance at success.

I just types this on my iPhone, so I’m sorry for the typos. Thanks Jason and I look forward to hearing back.

    Jason,
I’d love a free ticket to the event. I want to go to see if any SoCal VCs man up during this time of uncertainty and put their balls on the table, or if they too have decided to take their ball(s) and go home.

VCs are terrific at talking about the risks they take, as they build offices on their 2% of hundreds of millions under management fee and grab 20% of the upside on someone else’s at-risk capital. Now, as their LPs are threatening to pull back, they have to prove their own ROIs and place bets on real winners in times of uncertainty.

The question will be– who doubles down and helps create winners in times of upheaval, or who sits on the sidelines and watches as someone else creates the next great companies creating the growth stories that will headline 2009-2011. Which local firms will be the high quality options to which money will flow preferentially?

I want to know if we have anyone in our local VC community with a vision for how they will use this as an opportunity to become a premier firm as the SV giants pull back. Or, are the LA firms content to be second and third tier players as any tech company with potential continues to bypass them on their way to SV?
